Which councils are up for election on May 2nd?
Metropolitan Boroughs
In 33 of the 36 English Metropolitan Borough Councils one-third of their seats are up for election.
Elections will take place in 47 unitary authorities.
Whole Council
In 30 English unitary authorities the whole council is up for election.
Third of Council
In 17 English unitary authorities one third of the council is up for election.
Non-Metropolitan Districts
Elections will take place in 179 non-metropolitan districts.
Whole Council
In 130 English district authorities the whole council is up for election.
Third of Council
In 49 English district authorities one third of the council is up for election.
Mayoral Elections
Six direct mayoral elections will be held.
One election will be held for a regional mayor.
Northern Ireland
In Northern Ireland, all eleven councils will be up for election.
